Ms. Ruthie, tell us how you came to be in software QA?

Thank you, Stan.

I started in 1988 in QC at a travel agency for a groups department. I always loved doing the work no one else wanted to do. I don't know why. Turns out, I was good at at it. Bored after 4 years though, I took a spin turning letters on Wheel of Fortune, while at night performing brain surgery. Stressed out, I sailed the Caribbean for six months until I ran out of money. I headed back to the travel agency with a guarantee that I would not QC for more than 1 year, which they honored so I was able to move into new and different things. Ah, but whilst serving the tyrant Karen my job was (joyfully) eliminated and I was told to find another job. After rejoicing aplenty, I got a coolio job at a software firm, and maneuvered into QA. That was 4 years ago. Not sure why bugs just jump out at me. Not sure why I find bugs other people miss. Not sure why I think of test scenarios others don't. Not sure why I question design 'till I'm blue in the face. In spite of driving developers mad, they like me. Why, Stan, I'm so abby-normal, I even enjoyed taking tests in school. It's a strange world, Stan, but I'm glad you're in it with me.
