2006-Mar-25 - Keep On Blogging

Posted in Testing

Starting my blog has definitely been A Good Thing To Do.

There's been some really nice comments left for me and that is very encouraging when starting out on a career switch. ( thank you everyone who has done so )

Actually writing my blog has meant I have had to reflect on what lessons I've learned and what I can pass on.

Reading other peoples blogs means that I realise I am not alone and that there are others in the same situation as me.

Reading other blogs gives me hints and tips that would otherwise take years to learn.

When I wrote about Perl,  jpweston left a useful comment recommending Ruby and Watir. I'd come across those in my surfing but having someone recommend them meant I went to check them out properly and 5 minutes after downloading them I was driving the Google search page.

I showed this to one of the senior programmers and he thought that such a tool might be useful next week as they are having trouble with one of the programmes and a way to automatically drive it might be very handy - and I'm really keen to start showing how testing can be useful and is more than just clicking on buttons

So keep on blogging people, it's a great thing and a good tool for a tester to have !

2006-Mar-25 - Developer Tips

Hi Phil,
Your blogs are a great read! I would be curious to know if you have any insights from development to share regarding performance at a unit/component/module level.

Keep it up!
