The loneliness of the long distance Software Developer

Posted on Fri 2 Feb 2007 at 01:21 in Musings

Software Development can be a lonely business.  There is the developer sat at his/her desk churning out code day after day with only the compiler to talk to.  The only light relief that a developer has is when the tester finds a bug and needs to talk about it.  The joy of interaction with something that doesn’t just say “Syntax Error” is something to behold.  Watch the developer’s face light up at the chance of human interaction, at the opportunity to exercise vocal chords rusty through lack of use, a conversation!

As testers we should support these poor, lonely creatures.  Please give as much time as you can to this worthy cause.

I did just that after the heartfelt cries of a poor soul that his work was never tested.

His cry has now turned into a whine that he cant make any progress as he has to spend all his time keeping up with the bugs I keep finding

Be careful what you wish for, he he he
