More details needed

The email from my offshore coworker states this - 'I'm not able to access bug tracking tool. Could you please look into this?' Of course I can take a look, but why you didn't provided more details. It is like a bug report, what can I do if I don't know what error message you are getting and how you are getting this error message. I replied with request for more details. One more work day lost.

Test cases quality

I had a chat with the business analyst today. He reviewed test cases written by our group and not happy with quality. What can we do to improve? I have only one answer try to document on your side as much as possible. We cannot create nice test case for not documented feature or not correct wireframe.

It is not just wrong, it is no bueno! Why have some people still not gotten the message that white text on a black background is hard to read?

I spent the whole day playing with WinSCP. It is a great tool comparing with SecureCRT  and  SecureFX which I used before.

SilkTest FAQ

I got new QA Engineer and have no time to teach her, so I found two nice SilkTest sites and would like to share with her. The first one is very old, but still useful. It seems that second site updates very often:
Automation expertise
SilkTest FAQ and Interview Questions
From the second one : "SilkTest does not set DefaultBaseState for Internet Explorer" - It happens so often in my practice. :)

Last week I finished with testing of the small web based application and found no bugs. Surprise.

Been there done that

once again I got the code from the developer, but without any documentation. Should I write any test docs after that?

What is the best tester to developer ratio?

There's no simple answer. It depends on so many things, but we have one QA to 3 developers

smart developer

Recently I submitted the bug to developer that he misplaced two text fields. In short the work email showed home email and visa versa. The developer delivered fix next day. It was very funny instead of replacing text field with email values, he just replaces text labels.
