vb for testers - things to do

i am part-way through vb for testers by mary romero sweeney. it is a little simplistic at the moment, but that is due to it being written for people who have never developed anything in vb before. i am no vb expert, but i have written some stuff in vb before, both at uni and some small apps for friends businesses. there is definitely a lot i don't know about as my uni text didn't get very in depth. so because of that i am loath to skip sections in case i miss something. but it is boring right now as it is repeating my current knowledge.

things to do:
  • view end in help
  • view debugger in help
  • learn more about using objects
  • get everything in the books i have purchased to be downloaded to my brain matrix-stylee
i want more knowledge and i want in last week, with the skillset, experience and improved productivity...

does anyone else out there feel that they are under-educated? i know i am only a short-term contractor but there has been nothing in terms of helping me develop myself. is that normal? no offers of training or maybe paying for books or anything of that ilk. i don't mind too much, but i was hired as i had been an end user in a bank who dealt with complaints and had to work through undocumented bank systems to find out where money had disappeared to as one simple example. also i had worked on online education systems with php and mysql, which means i can use sql server to some extent though i could definite built on my knowledge of that type of thang. how to write stored procedures is definitely one of my goals. end of april. it shall be done, oh yes, it shall be done.

back to vb for teste[r]s. sorry i have a friend who is an equity anal-cyst so i am a teste. i think i got the better end of the stick. ewwww.
