May 7, 2008 - A New Version of WinTask - 3.5

The good folks at TaskWare have released a new version of the favorite tool in my toolbox - WinTask.
Here are all the new features in 3.5:
- CaptureOCR$()
- Captures what is seen in the specified window, OCRizes the content and returns the text as analysed by the OCR engine.
-
- CaptureAreaOCR$()
- Captures what is seen in the specified area of the specified window, OCRizes the content and returns the text as analysed by the OCR engine.
-
- UseOCREngine()
- Specifies which OCR engine will be used by subsequent OCR function calls.
-
- Encrypt()
- Encrypts a string.
I particularly like the new OCR capabilities in WinTask 3.5. Now, you can continue to use the defaut OCR engine provided by WinTask, or use the far more powerful OCR engine that comes with Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007.
Assuming you have MS-Office installed, you'll notice a tremendous increase in the text recognition and consistency in WinTask's OCR - allowing it to be a very viable method for retrieving text from objects that simply weren't usable before.
