Automated Functional Testing Presentation
- Posted at 10:53 on January 31, 2008 by Damian Synadinos Click here [savefile.com] to download my Automated Functional Testing PowerPoint presentation.
The purpose of the presentation is to introduce the audience to Automated Functional Testing at a very high-level. Topics include: · What is it? o Definitions, Description, Characteristics, Myths · Why do it? o Benefits · Who does it? o Resources · When is it done? o SDLC · How is it done? o Process The intended audience is those that are unaware or uninformed with regards to Automated Functional Testing. It was designed to be clear, concise and delivered quickly. Unfortunately, I had to remove all company-specific content. This content included approximately 10 "example" slides. The slides simulated interaction with an application, then displayed the recorded (pseudo) code. The deficiencies of the "record-playback" methodology were explained, and then each successive slide included small changes which showed the progression from "record-playback" to "functional decomposition" to "data driven" and "keyword driven" methodologies. These examples were used to detail the pros/cons of various methodologies, and show what goes on "behind the scenes". Also note that this presentation focuses on Automated Functional Testing, and assumes that all system/application analysis activities have already been completed (those tasks which answer "Is the system/app ready for Automated Functional Testing?"). Thoughts?

The intended audience is those that are unaware or uninformed with regards to Automated Performance Testing. It was designed to be clear, concise and delivered quickly. In the past few months, I have delivered the presentation multiple times to NetJets QA department, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other members of the IT group. The feedback has, thus far, been positive. Of course, the full impact of the presentation cannot be realized here, as much of the content is verbally delivered. NOTE - Several slides have been altered/removed to protect company confidential content. Thoughts? Thanks. |
